A welcome from Jo our principal counsellor.
"Hello. I look forward to meeting you. It is my genuine hope that we can help you, when you feel ready. Reaching out is a big step and often a change in direction that can feel strange.
Especially on top of everything else you are dealing with.
Hang in there.
Help and hope is here.
(H.O.P.E Hold On. Pain Ends)
We will walk with you. or your child.
One step at a time.
We want to see ‘you’ and know you want 'to be heard'.
For your peace of mind here's a little bit about my background.
Helping people has been my life's calling being fortunate to know at a very young age what I wanted to do. I hold a deep passion for what I do. As an Specialist teacher I have been working in the Diversity/ Additional / Special needs space for over 30 years. I am a Counsellor and Teacher of the Deaf with qualifications from Australia, USA and England. I have worked in the corporate sector, with children and adults in homes, kindergartens, childcare centres, primary and secondary schools and universities. I run professional development for educators around meeting the varied needs of their students. I have worked on multi-disciplinary teams in the Department of Human Services, Department of Education, Independent and Private schools’ sector, Early Intervention, NDIS and not for profits.
Working closely with teachers, Well-being and Learning Diversity staff in schools and being based at a school using Play Therapy / Interplay is a beautiful growth area that heals children and families. I genuinely love working with children & their families. I stand with them for the long haul.
I also enjoy teaching 'Intro to Auslan' and 'Baby Signing (Auslan)' to all interested education settings and family members. It is such a joy to enhance early communication for all.
Having had my fair share of life's curve balls I come to you with a toolkit of strategies, a genuine interest and compassion about you and your life. I seek to understand your personal needs and how you want to feel different than how you feel now. I hope to help you get to where you want to be, at a pace you feel comfortable with to achieve your goals in counselling. This is also true for all the children I have the pleasure to walk with as they heal.
I look forward to walking with you as you
commence the road back to yourself in the hope
you will feel a shift and
find joy in your life again".
